Thought of the Week
What if many of the "sleep problems" families worry about aren't actually problems at all? Parents today are surrounded by advice telling them when their baby should sleep, how long they should sleep, and what milestones they should reach by a certain age. When their baby doesn't fit neatly into those expectations, it's easy to assume something is wrong. Yet infant development is highly individual. Frequent waking, changing sleep patterns, short naps, and a need for caregiver support are often normal parts of infancy—not signs of failure or poor sleep habits.

Meet Your NCS & Postpartum Doula
Cheryl Conley aka CC!
Hello! I was born and raised in Montana and have lived in multiple states since. I had 4 pregnancies but 2 are not with me anymore. I have 2 daughters and a teenage grandson and I live in beautiful Maryland now. I was paid to babysit alone at the young age of 12 and haven’t stopped yet! I taught K-8 Special Education in Missouri for 5 years before coming to Maryland. I was a Foster Mom to 50ish children while teaching school.
My love and joy for teaching and caring for kids, keeps growing stronger. My niche, now, is mostly with newborn to 1-year olds. I enjoy caring for all ages, in special circumstances.
I came to MD to care for my grandson in 2012 and have cared for babies overnight since then. I have benefitted many families while working as an Advanced Newborn Care Specialist in the DMV, which is DC, MD, and No.VA. I also trained as a Certified Postpartum Doula (CPD) in 2026.
My passion and purpose is to help YOU and your growing family successfully welcome and nurture your new family member(s), while keeping your sanity and joy!!!!
Let’s become a team, for your baby(s)!!
Baby's home! It's family time!
Journeying into parenthood brings questions, fears, and concerns about the unknown for parents, siblings, and pets. As a Newborn Care Specialist and Postpartum Doula, my job is to help you prepare confidently for the transition of bringing your baby(s) home. I will help guide you and your family members through a relatively peaceful postpartum period and ease you through those unbearable sleepless nights.
I will listen to and observe your baby(s) cues and needs, while using AAP guidelines and best practices.
Rely on your doctors and me, but you will be your baby(s) best source overall!

CC's STORY
Why I love being a Doula in the Potomac, MD area
All humans need love, respect, and to be valued. We want to thrive, not just survive!
I enjoy giving my heart, skills, gifts, talents, and physical effort into family life here in the Potomac, MD area. While I research community resources and professionals that postpartum moms, babies, and whole families need, I may benefit, as well.
You, your baby(s), partner, older children, pets, and extended family may all benefit from my assistance, advice, household help, and connections to community resources during this major life transition…bringing a new baby home…without the doctors, nurses, and machines that you relied on at birth! Let's explore and experience our communities!
We live in a beautiful community with walking trails, sports facilities, churches, shopping, medical facilities, and more. I encourage you to use them all!
Even though I won’t know everything you’ll want to know, I will endeavor to give you my best information and then research the rest!!
kind words
