Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is professional help worth hiring if I am going to have family and friends to help me?

Yes. Doulas and NCS' can set & protect limits of time, noise, interactions, and the demands on you. We will work alongside of your visitors who want to help you so much! The NCS will care for baby at night while your guests sleep, so they can 'BE THERE' during the daytime. We will set and enforce the limits you require for you and your baby. After all, you are recovering from trauma and wanting to sort out what comes next!

We can set limits for visitation windows to honor your rest requirements. We will LISTEN to you, empathize and sympathize with you.

  • Will my partner feel replaced by a doula?

Doulas are not meant to take on a bigger role than your partner. Your partner knows you, your comforts, your emotions, and what you need better than anyone and will be a necessary part of your birth and postpartum recovery.

Doulas come with knowledge about pregnancy, birth, and postpartum that your partner may not have, and will help them find the best way to apply that knowledge to you. We love to work with partners and all family members, giving them tips for comfort measures and empowering them to be an integral part of this journey of parenthood!.

  • Should I hire a Postpartum Doula or an NCS?

Determine if you need education about HOW to care for the baby, and do  you need  SLEEP and a SHOWER more than you need laundry done. An NCS will use techniques and tricks-of-the-trade to care for baby and then teach them to you when you're alert!!

A Doula will care for the baby very well, but she wants to care for your needs and your family's needs also. We will help your partner, children, and extended family feel needed and helpful, while working out their own stresses and questions during this major transition in their lives.
